Numbers don’t lie, but how you present them does.

Key Performance Indicators or KPIs have two main purposes in the business world.  One is to fluff the numbers, hide the flaws, and paint a pretty picture while the other is to accurately reflect where your organization stands on crucial metrics.  At SIG, we specialize in the latter.  We clean up your data and integration processes  so you can take the appropriate, fact-based actions needed for your business.

These KPIs don’t have to only look at profit, but could be more nuanced to search for trendand pattern that help drive innovation or flag issues for staff to investigate.

Often, one of the biggest hurdles to accurate KPI measures is dirty data.  Unstandardized and ungroomed data will dilute the integrity of your measurements.  This can come in many forms, whether it be a lack of data mastering, standardization, duplication/deduplication, reporting gaps, or human error.  Here at SIG, we have the tools and expertise you need to clean up and groom your data, without limiting its integrity.

Every kind of organization has different metrics they should measure and work to improve.  Even within an industry, every specialty company will have different metrics based on their goals, structure, purpose, and information needs.  Metrics to measure profit, efficiency, and identify gaps for staff to focus on are all commonplace.

Take healthcare for example.  One common metric might be how many of your patients have gotten a particular vaccine.  Seems like a fairly easy thing to measure, in theory.  However, in reality, it is often far more complicated.  Duplicate patient records could throw off your numbers.  Or perhaps there are several different versions of the vaccine that are all coded differently, but your analytics only look for one or two of those codes.  What if that patient got the vaccine at another healthcare facility, and the vaccine data feed with this information is mapped incorrectly or your mastering algorithm is antiquated?  What if different departments or physicians record this information differently.  These are all real-world scenarios that must be accounted for in healthcare analytics, and these hurdles are highly individualized.

Context matters tremendously.  The fitness of an indicator is highly specific to the individual organization and the context how the data was collected.  At SIG, we will work with you to learn that context and produce the most accurate KPIs possible, so you can make the decisions you need.

Often there is so much noise in your data, it can be hard to even know what metrics to pursue and over what timeframes.  At SIG, we can bring a fresh perspective to what key performance indicators you should be using, and how to build them while maintaining the integrity of your data.
